Enhancing Youth Entrepreneurial and Employability Opportunities in the Coffee Value Chain

Mastercard Foundation is partnering with the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU) to implement the Young Africa Works strategy by Enhancing the Lead Firm Structure for Youth Employment in Uganda. The Young Africa Works strategy aims to create dignified and full filling work opportunities for 3,000,000 young people in Uganda by 2030.

NUCAFE is partnering with PSFU to implement the Enhancing Youth Entrepreneurial and Employability Opportunities in the Coffee Value Chain project through the Lead Firm Structure. NUCAFE will use the Lead Firm Structure approach integrated with the Farmer Ownership Model to skill at least 5,640 young people in the coffee value chain and create at least 4,000 coffee household decent work opportunities and family businesses.

Overall Intervention: The project will champion coffee Business Development Services such as Coffee Family Business Management and Succession Planning, Farmer Organizations strengthening, production and productivity enhancement through Sustainable Coffee Intensification, financial literacy and financial access, coffee quality management, coffee barista skilling, among others.

NUCAFE invites young people between 18-35 years with passion for undertaking business activities at the various nodes of the coffee Value Chain, Coffee farmer Associations, Community Based Organizations and other Coffee supporting Businesses in the following districts; Sheema, Bushenyi, Zombo, Lira, Kapchorwa, Mbale, Masaka, Mpigi, Rakai, Kalungu, Kasese, Lwengo, Kabarole, Kisoro, Bundibugyo, Iganga, Kamuli, Mukono, Kalangala, Rukungiri, Kayunga, Wakiso, Bunyangabo, Kyenjojo, and Kampala to apply for participation in the project.
