Our Service portfolio and value proposition

Production, Productivity, and Quality Enhancement services

We empower farmers to produce better quality coffee through promoting inclusive coffee value chain development for increased coffee productivity and production among coffee farmers, production of eco- friendly carbon neutral coffee as well as championing innovations in coffee value chain for increased household income. NUCAFE has championed the sustainable intensification coffee planting density programme by promoting reduced spacing of 3m by 1m for robusta coffee farming and 2m by 1m spacing for Arabica coffee to enable farmers increase coffee productivity by over 3 times from 3 m by 3m for robusta coffee and 2.5m by 2.5m for Arabica coffee. 

Attestation, Certification and Verification

Through NUCAFE, farmers are certified and enabled to access ‘Fair Trade’ (FT), ‘Organic’ (ECO), Rainforest and recently piloting Geographical Indication (GI) registration in Uganda to promote the highly value form marketing of “terrior” coffees for increased responsibility and traceability of Ugandan coffee on the international market. 

Access to financial services

NUCAFE has facilitated financial capacity building to enable farmers, farmer associations become bankability through enhancing financial services through financial literacy, management tools and business planning for market readiness.

Market linkage services

Using the Farmer Ownership Model, farmers are directly linked to international global markets with direct export to roasters World Wide. 

Coffee Value Chain Additional service

In line with the government of Uganda’s priorities under NDP III with focus on Agro-industrialization, NUCAFE established state of art modern 3 new hub-based coffee processing factories at farm level as well as the end – end coffee cleaning, hulling, sorting, grading, drying, roasting, grinding, branding and packaging for farmers’ increased coffee value addition. This currently brings the total number of hubs to 32 with annual potential marketable volume of 158,000 Mts. 

Skilling youth and women in coffee value chain

In order to enhance sustainability in the coffee value chain, NUCAFE offers skilling opportunities for young people to start their own entrepreneurial enterprises and or be skilled for decent work opportunities for households in the coffee value chain.  

Gender Equity Enhancement

NUCAFE is championing enhancing gender equity in coffee farming households for improved livelihoods, increased coffee productivity and quality of coffee in Uganda.
